Aussie Slammers is a Y Geelong basketball skills development program for children aged 5 to 12 years old.
The program is ideal for budding basketball players who wish to develop and master the skills of basketball without the pressure of competition.
Trained and experienced staff will teach each child the basic skills of basketball including dribbling, passing, catching, shooting and rebounding. The classes are made to be “fun” and are designed for children who may not have played the game before or who want to improve their current skills.
Based on the 4 F's (fun, fundamentals, friends and fitness) the emphasis is on having fun in small groups while learning the game and its skills in achievable stages.

The YMCA Basketball Club first competed in the GABA competition in 1952 after being formed by the Geelong YMCA’s first executive director, the late Jack Terrill and has enjoyed an excellent reputation in terms of the quality of its players, coaches and administrators.
The Club has produced many fine players over the years including many who have represented Geelong in representative basketball in the SEABL and NBL as well as Victorian and Victorian Country state teams. Two of our players, Russell Riches and Trish Fallon, have gone on to represent Australia at the Olympic Games.
That’s why we a keen to hear from any up and coming Referees who would like to develop skills and earn a little pocket money while staying fit.
The Y Geelong has a range of facilities across the Golden Plains and Geelong region available for court hire. Newtown Stadium has a two-court stadium, Bannockburn Recreation Centre has two courts and Bannockburn Community Sports Stadium has one court.
