YMCA Geelong Open Doors
The YMCA seeks to improve people's health and happiness by enabling people of all ages and abilities to become active and involved in their local community.
YMCA Open Doors is critical to YMCA Geelong’s work in overcoming health inequalities experienced by people and families facing disadvantage within our community. Through YMCA Open Doors, with the support of our committed partners, we raise funds locally to provide access to health promoting YMCA programs and services as local needs dictate.
People with disabilities, those experiencing socio-economic disadvantage, refugees and indigenous Australians are the main groups we seek to support. It is our aim that no one will be turned away from accessing a YMCA program due to an inability (not unwillingness) to pay.

Please note that families are required to complete the Participant Application Form and that an advocate for the family (non-family member) must complete the Agency Referral Nomination Form.
The Agency Referral can be completed by a variety of people, they may be from an actual agency such as MacKillop Family Services, Bethany or Barwon Health, or they may be your child’s teacher, doctor, gymnastics instructor, and so on.
The person completing this form must be able to vouch for the family and confirm that they require financial assistance and how the child/ren would benefit from participating in YMCA services and programs.
IMPORTANT: Families may be required to attend a formal meeting before approval is granted. Also note there are limitations as to the amount any one family may be eligible per calendar year.
