Update 01/05/2020

COVID -19 UPDATE:
National Cabinet today endorsed ‘National Principles for the Resumption of Sport and Recreation Activities developed by the AHPPC in consultation with sporting bodies across Australia.

The Principles provide a pathway for a staged return of community and professional sport, as well as recreational activities, without compromising the health of individuals or the community.

Stage 1- Complete locked down of sport and rec.....what we are living through now.

Stage 2-
Small activities of 10 or less activities in a non-contact fashion,

Stage 3-
large group 10 + activities including full contact training and competition in sport.

The initial phase accommodates, where possible, for the resumption of children’s outdoor sport with strict physical distancing measures for non-sporting attendees such as parents, and outdoor recreational activities including but not limited to outdoor-based personal training and boot camps, golf, fishing, bush-walking, and swimming.

The states and territories will be responsible for sport and recreation resumption decisions, both at the professional and community level and will determine progression through the phases, taking account of local epidemiology, risk mitigation strategies and public health capability.

Download the COVIDSafe App so we can get back to sport and rec in a safe manner.

We will continue to listen to your voices that have told us “we still want to play, stay fit and healthy” and where possible we will be working to do that but it may look a little different.

We are going to ask you to;

  • Wash your hands…. all the time!
  • If you’re sick or unwell to stay at home
  • Don’t cuddle your friends or give high fives…. think of a new way of saying “Hi” without touching them.
  • Keep your personal space… you need to put both your arms out beside you, spin around and make sure no-one is in your personal space. (It’s called the arm wave)

THANK YOU!

Thank you for your patience, understanding, and care. We especially thank our members who have taken the time to comfort our staff and support our people and children. Your kindness has been a blessing.

As such travellers returning from any country outside Australia are now considered at risk of COVID-19. At this stage, only returning travellers from Iran, South Korea and China should self- isolate.

If you are arriving in Australia from Italy, you must present for health screening at the border as directed. Unless you are instructed to, you do not need to isolate at home.
