STAGE 3 Restrictions effective 6th August – 13th September 2020

In accordance with the Enforceable Government Directive issued by the Victorian Chief Health Officer, YMCA Geelong Inc. will be closed to the public from 11.59pm Wednesday 5th August 2020:

  • YMCA Newtown Stadium
  • YMCA The Arena North Geelong
  • Bannockburn Recreation Centre
  • Bannockburn Community Sports Stadium
  • YMCA Camp Wyuna

There are a number of essential services that will continue to operate throughout the closure during Stage 3 Restrictions;

  • Vacation Care
  • Disability Respite Accommodation

YMCA Geelong Gymnastic Club will offer  Remote Gymnastics program for Recreation commencing Wednesday 19th August and Competitive Programs commencing Wednesday 12th of August.

All other junior sport and recreation has been suspended until the restriction ease.

Customer Service at each YMCA Newtown Stadium/YMCA The Arena will be closed for some much needed selfcare from Thursday 6th August and reopen 9.00am Wednesday 11th August 2020.

All other operations administration teams will be operating reduced hours.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: Are you still open at Newtown and North Geelong?
A: No, our gymnastics, basketball, rookie sports, social basketball, casual shooting are not operating. The only classes that are operating  will be Remote Gymnastics – Competitive program  commences 12/08/2020 and Recreation classes commence 19/08/2020 for members who book into the classes.

Q: How do I book my child to a remote gymnastics class?

Q: What happens if there is a shutdown?
A: If there is a directive to close our programs by the Chief Medical Officer we will suspend payments immediately for all classes.

Q: Will I get a refund for payments made in advance?
A: All advanced payments for classes that are yet to occur will be credited to your family account on our point of sale system for use when we re-open of applied to Remote Gymnastics Classes.

Q: Is Camp Wyuna open?
A: Camp Wyuna will only be operating for essential service provision of accommodation deemed exempt by the Chief Health Officer, otherwise the facilities are closed.

Q: Is Bannockburn Recreation open for Casual Basketball Shooting?
A: No, Closed until further notice.

Q: What will happen if there is a confirmed COVID-19 case at the Y?
A: The approach for our YMCA community in the event of a confirmed positive COVID-19 case may require us to go into partial or full shutdown. If this is the case, an SMS will be sent to alert all members of the YMCA site, followed by an email with further information. 

Procedure

Step 1. All members & staff will receive an SMS outlining the name of the YMCA site that is required to go into a shutdown.

Step 2. An email will follow with further instructions regarding the expectations for all members & staff to follow.

Step 3. If a shutdown is called on an operational day then families who have the capacity will be asked to collect their child/ren as soon as it is practical in line with the expectations set out in the email. Members who are unable to be picked up until the end of class will be supervised under the best possible social distancing measures.

Step 4. Members will receive further correspondence regarding a return to sport plan in line with the DHHS advice.

Q: I want to cancel my booking?
A: YMCA has a Fees and Charges Policy published on our policy page on the website. During a Stage 3 Restrictions YMCA Geelong has suspended all memberships and cancellation requests will not be processed until the enforceable directive has ceased.

Q: What happens when the Enforceable Directives ease will junior sport returns?
A: YMCA will communicate to registered members via email (check your junk mail), sms, and post information on relevant Facebook pages. If your email address is not up to date on our system then please contact us to ensure this is updated.
