The Club is extremely conscious of our responsibilities for safeguarding children and young people and we will require parental support and cooperation. The main entrance of the YMCA Newtown will be used as the entry point and will exit via the emergency exit door to the side of the building near the Container. For the safety of your children moving through the Newtown car park, we ask that parents walk children under the age of 12 to the front entrance.
Please note: The express drop off and pick up lanes have now been removed at Newtown.

At YMCA Arena- North Geelong, Parent/Guardians will be required to drop off & pick up children at the Level 1 Entrance foyer (Not in the Car Park) Coaches or a staff member will meet athletes at the Foyer Entrances (Newtown and North Geelong) and transfer duty of care at this points, please do not come earlier than 5 minutes prior to your class.

Toilets and Change rooms

The toilets will be available however we ask that all participants to attend training/ classes session ready to train as the change rooms may not be available. There will be no access to showers. Participants must wear shoes into the centres.

Returning to Training- Competitive Programs

Implementing a ‘Return to Training’ plan to ensure athletes have a progressive return whilst avoiding overload and injury. This will involve reduction of training load and hours and the use of softer surfaces to gradually reload the body. This plan is underpinned by State and National resources and will be dependent on the level of the athlete. Coaches will guide athletes through safe skill development in a time-frame appropriate with the athlete’s condition, ability, and training environment.

Furthermore, in assessing risk of transmission, some safety apparatus such as foam pits are temporarily prohibited to use to the extent previously utilised. Changes to equipment use may subsequently impact program planning including athlete skill development.

Wellbeing

The experience within our community of people returning to on-site work and activities suggests that they find the experience quite unsettling.
We will be working a number of support agencies to implement for participants/coaches well-being sessions as we transition back to the club.

Meetings and gatherings

All scheduled meetings will continue to be held online until further notice.

Illness

Please do not come to training if you have any cold or flu like symptoms. Please emphasise this regularly to your children. If they should feel unwell, appear feverish or show flulike symptoms, please notify the coach or team manager when your child is nominated for a team.

If you or a member of your family/workplace is awaiting a COVID test result, please stay home and notify us if you are a Close Contact or have a confirmed case.
