1006 Days to Victoria 2026
The Commonwealth Games are just over 1006 days away and YMCA Geelong Gymnastics has a vision that the region’s Commonwealth Games legacy for our sport is to grow participation in a regional facility that provides a pathway from recreation through to competitive/high-performance.
Today, our gymnasts met with David Southwick - Shadow Minister for the Commonwealth Games and Sam Groth - Shadow Minister for Sport, Tourism & Major Events and Shadow Minister for Youth at our Newtown Club. It was certainly well received when discussing the Commonwealth Games Gymnastics being hosted in Geelong in 2026.
Mackenzie, of the International Development Squad, told our visitors “I’m going to the Olympics one day!”
“That is certainly our hope that gymnasts from our region are afforded the same opportunities to access high-performance facilities, that can help make their dreams come true as a result of the lasting legacy from the Commonwealth Games 2026,” said Shona Eland CEO of The Y Geelong.
