Changes happening at the Y!
- The current set of Speith Uneven Bars on the floor along with a new spotters platform will be installed over the pit.
- A new set of Speith FIG competition uneven bars will replace the current Speith set on the floor.
- The new bar installation over the pit will mean we are required to move the long trampoline (tumble track) to allow enough space for the guy wires from the bars to be anchored to the floor correctly.
- The long tramp will be moved to the current location of the double mini tramp. Unfortunately, the double mini tramp has a worn frame, springs and matting so it will be removed from the gym until we can either repair or find a suitable replacement.
- There will also be a new Speith single-high bar installed over the pit, this will be interchangeable with a men’s and women’s bar rail.
- There is also a new set of Parallel Bars to be installed in place of the set that were recently retired.
- The current bag area will undergo a refresh with hooks to replace the shelving allowing more bags to be stored in that area
Unfortunately, all of our planning has come up with some challenges in getting the stock and install dates locked in.
We have aligned the majority of works to a five day window with hopefully minimal disruption to classes.
Our biggest hold-up is on the interchangeable high bar and spotting platform for the pit - they are currently in the US awaiting shipment to us (we are hoping for around eight weeks until delivery and installation of these bars)
Currently, our timeline looks like this:
- 11th August Stage 1: Beams moved and, double mini tramp removed
- 14th August Stage 2: Long Tramp moved to its new location
- 15th August Stage 3: New Parrell Bars installed
- 17th August uneven bars relocation and new set installation over the pit
- September School HolidaysPit Refurbishment (exact date TBC) and bag storage area update
- Date TBC Single bar and spotters platform install over pit - currently awaiting stock.
This upgrade is important and we will do all we can to keep disruption to normal scheduled classes to a minimum.
We understand this will take some minor adjustments to rotations and movement within the gym but hope the long-term benefits of these upgrades will be a benefit to all.
We ask for patience over this period to allow these works to be completed and if you have concerns or queries about classes or rotations please don’t hesitate to contact your coordinators or coaches.
