2026 Victorian Youth Press Gallery

Apply now to participate in the 2026 Victorian Youth Press Gallery!

Youth Press Gallery is a program for young people aged 16-25 who are interested in gaining experience and skills in political journalism, videography, photography, and social media. Participants will serve as the Press Gallery for the YMCA Victoria Youth Parliament by writing articles about the program and the issues being debated for a variety of publications.

Youth Press Gallery is a great opportunity to write about issues you’re passionate about and be the voice of young Victorians. In the lead up to Youth Parliament, the Youth Press Gallery will partake in a series of workshops with professional industry stakeholders, equipping participants with the relevant industry skills to produce stories for major publications.

Our Youth Press Gallery journalists will take part in aspects of our residential Participant Training Weekend and Week of Youth Parliament camps alongside Youth Parliamentarians, as well as off-camp online workshops.

Youth Press Gallery participants are expected to be available for the following dates:

Fortnightly Meetings (held in the evenings from 5:30 – 7:30pm):

  • Thursday 12 and Thursday 26 March
  • Thursday 9 and Thursday 23 April
  • Thursday 7 and Thursday 21 May
  • Thursday 4 and Thursday 18 June
  • Thursday 9 July

Training day

Week of Youth Parliament

Youth Parliament sitting days at Parliament House (Spring St):

  • Monday 29 - Tuesday 30 June (including a reception at Government House),
  • Thursday 2 July

Onsite at Lake Dewar Discovery Camp:

  • Wednesday 1 July
