Nicole Selig is a senior health, safety and wellbeing practitioner with 20 years of applied expertise in  workplace risk, organisational culture and preventative safety systems.

Nicole has led complex health and safety functions across education, community services, corporate and emergency services settings. Her work includes designing system level interventions, building governance structures and implementing risk reduction programs that have delivered measurable improvements in wellbeing, safety performance and organisational resilience. She brings a research informed, analytical approach to monitoring organisational risk, evaluating program effectiveness and driving continuous improvement.

As OHS Services Manager for the Department of Education, she leads a proactive, values driven team supporting Victorian Government Schools. This experience has strengthened her capability in risk governance, policy development and the stewardship of safe environments for young people.

Nicole’s community ties are longstanding and deeply rooted in Geelong. As a parent of two teenage boys, she has been actively involved in local sporting clubs and youth programs for many years, including leadership roles with Local Football Clubs and service on the School Council. Her family’s connection to the YMCA is equally significant. Her children began their sporting journeys on YMCA courts, participated in YMCA programs and she has engaged with the organisation as both a parent and community member for more than a decade. These lived experiences give her a grounded understanding of the Y’s impact on youth development, belonging and community wellbeing.

Nicole brings a system thinking perspective shaped by both professional depth and authentic community engagement. She is committed to advancing best practice health, safety and wellbeing outcomes, strengthening safeguarding culture and contributing to strategic governance that supports the YMCA’s mission to build connected, resilient and inclusive communities.
