Doing our bit ♻️

Have you seen our new uniforms? We think they look pretty cool... They're also pretty friendly, eco-friendly that is.

At the Y, we're constantly looking at our services and product range to ensure that we're doing things with sustainability in mind. We believe in making a conscious effort to minimise our impact on the environment.

We want to make sure our business is not only limiting our impact on the environment, but also becoming a champion of youth-led sustainability solutions. Thus, further aligning the Y Geelong with one of our four key pillars; A Sustainable Planet.

Our new sustainable uniform range is made from 50% recycled polyester, which is the equivalent of 15+ plastic bottles recovered from landfill!

Waste not!

But what of the old uniforms we hear you say! Waste not, we shall reply!

After months of research, planning and consultations, the Y has partnered with Textile Recyclers Australia (TRA) to correctly upcycle our uniforms - including our old ones!

By partnering with TRA, the Y can help continue to keep our uniforms out of landfill and help work towards creating a resource for new products.

Our old uniforms will be turned into new products like insulation and carpet padding.
By recycling our uniforms, we're helping to reduce the amount of waste in landfills and
conserving natural resources.
